Our advanced trainings are a response to current social and political developments and challenges that concern multipliers in adult education.

International workshops 2018

1. Qualification connects!

  • Tools for validation of non-formal competences in Graz / Austria

During the advanced training, participants will get to know effective and easy accessible tools for the validation of non-formal and informal competences: in the field of literacy, basic education and job-specific qualifications. The workshop is also focusing on the importance of recognizing existing skills for the social and professional integration of refugees.

  •  Game-Based Methods in Giannitsa / Greece

The teaching of German as a foreign language, cultural and social aspects are challenging tasks. It is particularly effective if varied and interesting methods are used. This workshop aims to provide educators from language and literacy classes with playful methods, in order to involve them in their classes. Thus, language and cultural barriers between trainer and learners should be overcome in a playful way in order to make learning more attractive, low-threshold and more informal.

  • Welcoming culture in peripheral areas - challenges & opportunities for locals and refugees in Pizzo / Italy

The advanced training is designed for committed people and educational staff, which deals with successful methods and activities of a joint welcoming culture in peripheral areas. It seeks to demonstrate measures and activities of cooperation between locals, decision-makers and refugees, which help to promote the social integration of refugees and foster the development of rural communities.   

 

2. Diversity in the rural area

  •  Diversity Training in Marseille / France

This workshops aims to sensitize the attendees for discriminating behavior by prejudging, stereotyping and excluding expressions in daily life on the one hand and to give concepts and methods how to break up of these ingrained patterns on the other hand. It is the aim to give with well structured strategies and creative teaching methods for their educational work.


The main focus of the topic lies on gender-constructions, classism, racism in association with social discrimination and social privileges. The attendees will learn practically how to give social and intercultural competences, how to question prejudices pedagogical and how to create a trustful and safe learning environment.

 

  • overcoming antimuslim racism in Valencia / Spain

The advanced training supports to counteract tendencies of antimuslim racism by giving constructive pedagogic mechanisms to fight against antimuslim racism. Aims are the mediation of methods to raise awareness for muslims, their culture and islam as their religion; strategies to acknowledge muslims as a part of the european society; information about current and historical islamophobia; developments of personal skills and institutional strategies to overcome prejudices and discrimination of muslims.

 

  •  Diversity welcome! Diversity in nature and society in Vienna / Austria

The object of the workshop is to enhance the acceptance of diversity on a social and an ecological level. It will provide attractive, simple and practical methods (for example: intercultural gardening and multilingualism in nature) to the participants. The Focus lies on learning for a diverse society. For that purpose, migration and interculturality serve reference points. On the other hand, analogies can be drawn between social diversity with reference on class, culture, religion, body and diversity in nature.

  • artistic teaching methods within courses of basic education for refugees and migrants in Graz / Austria

In this workshop the KUNSTLABOR Graz provides integrative and creative methods of successful educational work with refugees and migrants in the fields of basic education and literacy. It promotes the ability to address and focus on the individual needs of learners. Particulary special creative techniques are taught which are suitable to promote social skills, language skills and the ability for personal orientation within society and the labor market of different target groups.

International workshops 2016

  • adventure-energy week in Kötschach-Mauthen / Carinthia / Austria

This train-the-trainers-workshop was about providing contents and teaching methods regarding the topic renewable energy and environmental sustainability. These contents and tools were appealing, low-threshold and related to the target group´s environment and lifestyles.

 

  • job-related languages for immigrants with "C3L Centre for Life Long Learning" in Tyresö / Sweden

The workshop mediated methods and teaching materials for the professions geriatric nurse, IT and craftsman. The participants got to know how to implement specific job related language teaching methods in their educational work as well as how to handle an appropriate placement of job seeking migrants in job-related internships.

 

  • learning shifts! information and communication technologies workshop in Villach / Austria

In this workshop the participants got to know specific strategies to include education for democracy and civic participation in basic education for adults. It included exercises, methods, reflections and inputs that were aligned with the placement of education for democracy in basic education programs for different target audiences.
